Mother’s Day in San Diego – 5 ways to ROCK your mom’s Mother’s Day

It’s almost Mother’s Day in San Diego, and most of us are thinking of once again about getting mom flowers and breakfast in bed (with a messy kitchen for her to clean up afterward, most likely).  At Tracy Lynn Studio, we like to do things a little bit differently. And since many of our interior designers are moms, we thought of the things that would really “wow” us this Sunday. Luckily, living in San Diego, there is a multitude of options for indoor and outdoor Mother’s Day fun nearby.

1. Stop and smell the…lavender

Keys Creek Lavender Farm is San Diego’s only organic lavender farm, located at the foothills of  Palomar Mountain. This hidden gem is rarely open to the public but features a stunning setting, and a Mother’s Day brunch that includes baked brie and a carving station. They also offer tours, a soap making class and high tea.

2.  Because Chocolate.

The San Diego Botanic Gardens’ Chocolate Festival is a no-brainer to make mom happy. This family-friendly event has chocolate tastings, kids’ activities and a variety of mother’s day gifts.

3. Go for broke with a mother/daughter weekend getaway

Or just act like you did, and get in mom’s good graces all year. The Oaks at Ojai Fitness Spa does a screaming mother/daughter deal for the month of May, where daughters get 40% off if they bring their moms.  The spa features amazing hikes in the Ojai hills, plus spa cuisine and tons of fitness and wellness programs.

4. Make a run for it

Start the day in a healthy way with the 4th Annual Mother’s Day Fun Run at Mission Bay. Run the 5k, 10k or Lil’ Tykes 100m Dash to benefit the San Diego Rescue Mission and still be done in time for mimosas!

5. Default to shopping

Most moms we know would love to spend a day just strolling around window shopping or taking the time to check out a few fabulous shops. Send her off with a credit card in hand to visit a few of our favorite home décor enclaves, such as Love and Aesthetics in Little Italy, Pigment in North Park or The Faded Awning in La Jolla.

Trust us, any of these Mother’s Day options in San Diego would be preferred to perfume and burnt English muffins.  Add a heartfelt homemade card and you’re golden!
